How can I keep costs down during my move?

Keep in mind that moving is both a science and an art, and each move is different. The best way to keep costs down is to be as prepared as possible for when the movers arrive, which will reduce or eliminate unexpected/unnecessary time. Moving boxes is one of the most time-consuming areas of a move, yet are some of the lightest things to move.

Another time saver, if we are not packing for you, is for you to use the same size boxes and be sure they are taped closed and labeled correctly for the movers. Stack them up, so the movers can just place them on the dolly and go. Also, while the movers will be happy to do so, the disassembly of furniture takes up time as well. You can try to disassemble any beds, desks, etc. to cut down on time. In short, anything that you can do yourself or anything that can help the movers move faster will cut down on your cost.

A close friend whom we helped with the move chose them for a move to California from the east coast, and not only were there no surprises, but everything – from the first telephone inquiry to the final piece of furniture being delivered, went well. Grizzly originally caught my eye because of their insanely good Google reviews. On top of that, every time I called, someone was immediately available. Contrast that to any of the van lines and even some of the smaller movers. And unlike the other movers, they moved everything from Atlanta to San Diego in three days. That includes the loading and the unloading. The van lines needed 21 business days to move the same inventory. 21 business days is a month or more. But Grizzly was there when they said they would be, handled the loading like the professionals they are, drove cross-country, and unloaded everything – all in the allotted three days. I was concerned about our friends using the van lines and some other movers, since they subcontract the move to unknown players. And using a company that would be holding all of your worldly goods for 21 business days instead of the three days it takes to cross the country didn’t seem to be the best choice. Moving is so stressful without your movers compounding that stress. I feel fortunate to have found Grizzly and to have selected them. I know that if we have to move ourselves that Grizzly is going to be our first and only choice.

Where were these guys when I moved 6 years ago?!! They were absolutely Heaven sent. Since they charge hourly, I was thinking they may move slowly on purpose, but not so. They came in, assessed the situation (it was a mess), and got to work immediately. They were so fast with taking the beds apart and wrapping all the big furniture. They took all the packed boxes out first, furniture 2nd, and anything else I asked them to grab. I was afraid there wouldn’t be enough room on the truck for everything I wanted them to take, but they took everything with room to spare. As fast as they were moving me out, they were even faster moving me into my new place. For a 2 bedroom condo that I’ve lived in for 4 years, it took approx. 4 1/2 hours to complete the job. I definitely recommend this company and will use them again if/when I move in the future. Well worth it!

We were looking specifically for an independent moving company with dedicated teams that would load our household belongs and transport them to our new home across the country, rather than a large chain that would shuttle to a semi truck and hand off to different movers at the other end who would be an unknown quantity. We have moved A LOT of times, but our experience with Grizzly moving was in a whole different league. Office staff Jade, Carlos, and Ari were very responsive and extremely helpful ahead of time. On the day of our move, we had Oleh, Birt, Martin, Dmitri and Vlad–and they were AMAZING. Courteous, pleasant, very careful, quick, extremely capable. If you are fortunate enough to have Oleh and Birt on your team, buy a lottery ticket that day. They supervised loading our household goods and drove them across country from San Diego to Asheville NC. Arrived at our house in Asheville first thing on the morning scheduled, and the two of them unloaded everything with the utmost care, set all furniture in place, put the bed together, carefully stacked our boxes in the correct rooms–and were finished in about 4 hours. And NOT A SINGLE ITEM WAS DAMAGED. No scratches, breaks, scuffs or dirt. THAT has never happened in a move for us before. Highly, highly recommend this company. I would give them 6 stars if I could.

From Jade and Carlos in the office that booked our move to the movers which were Jose and KD or Kardelius (hope he can forgive me for not remembering 100%). Both men were extremely polite, helpful and had everything under control. They were very careful with our items. They took steps to protect things that were fragile like our TV and a vase. When we arrived at our new home, Jose & KD were instrumental in helping us to place items in our new place. Best moving experience! It felt weird just sitting and doing nothing. They arrived exactly at 8am and had my one bedroom done in 4 hours 15 min. They were efficient and everything was in good condition. I accidentally overpaid. They called to tell me that and then drove back to give that money back.
